Today, Portland personal injury lawyer Richard Rizk, in his capacity as President of the South Portland Business Association and Chairman of the South Portland Neighborhood Association for Safety issues, met with Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, his staff and other South Portland leaders to urge the Mayor to improve transportation flow in South Portland, particularly in the South Waterfront area at Bond street and the greenway path.
Mayor Wheeler recognized the importance of creating better ingress and egress from South Waterfront in light of plans for increased activity in South Portland, including proposed Live Nation sponsored concerts. South Portland Neighborhood Association President Len Michon and former Salem mayor Roger Gertenrich, both also in attendance. stressed the need for Portland to resume talks with key property owner, Zidell corporation.
Jay Zidell and Mayor Wheeler had previously engaged in extensive negotiations to redevelop South Portland, but those efforts stalled over the last year over funding disagreements.
