What I Do For You

I am a personal injury attorney and an insurance attorney practicing in the Portland metro area. But what does that really mean?

As a personal injury attorney in Portland, I help people who are injured due to the fault of another obtain fair compensation for injuries. A key is fault. Injuries that are not the fault of some one else, are usually not compensable. While not a complete list, here are some examples of personal injury claims, I provide help with:

  • Auto Collisions
  • Pedestrian Accidents
  • Truck Accidents
  • Motor Cycle Accidents
  • Taxi Cab Accidents
  • Physical Assault
  • Rape Sexual / Assault
  • Premises / Liability
  • Fire Injury
  • Smoke Injury
  • Building Collapse

As an insurance attorney, I help you obtain payment from your insurer or the insurer for another. Benefits available depend on the terms and type of insurance policy you have. So, should you ever become involved with a dispute with your insurer, first request a certified copy of the insurance policy involved. Then read it.

The insurance policy is akin to the rules in monopoly. It’s hard to play the game without knowledge of the rules. Your policy will require you take certain steps in the event of a loss. A paper known as a declarations page summarizes coverage.

The insurance policy is also a legal contract. Subject to some limitations, your insurer may sue you and you can sue your insurer in the event of a breach of the contract. Generally speaking an insurer may avoid coverage if it can show that a policyholder did not cooperate with its claim investigation and by doing so, prejudiced its investigation.

Here are some examples of insurance disputes, I assist with:

  • Disability Insurance Claims
  • Bad Faith Insurance Claims
  • Fire Loss Claims
  • Water Damage Claims
  • Business Interruption Claims
  • Homeowner Claims
  • Environmental Claims
  • Tree Damage Claims
  • Theft Claims
  • Vandalism Claims
  • PIP Claims (auto med insurance)

Laws and insurance policy terms limit when and how you must present most claims. In all cases, document what happened as soon as possible notify your insurer as soon as you can. Keep track of your communications. If you have any question about your claim, give me a call. I may have an easy solution.
