Monday Afternoon Crash Near Sheridan Causes One Death, Five Injuries

police-lights-in-afternoonShortly after 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, the Oregon Department of Transportation reported that one passenger was killed and five others injured when a minivan driving on Highway 22 suddenly veered off the road, slamming into several road signs before finally ending up in a ditch.

Four of the injured passengers were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals. A fifth survivor was rushed by air ambulance to a hospital for medical treatment. No details were immediately available about why the driver may have lost control of the vehicle.

Authorities closed the highway for several hours to investigate the crash.
